Spring Weddings

In April, as the days grow longer and the soil warms up, the start of the growing season in our patches brings a sense of anticipation and excitement. This year is slightly different as Ottilie has started school, so we are learning to balance the school holidays with our busy wedding season. We thrive on the busyness that comes with planning and creating for weddings, and our first one this year will take place at Farbridge Barns near Chichester, close to the renowned Goodwood estate. Our longstanding relationship with Farbridge has been wonderful, as the team at the barns never fails to extend a warm welcome. The brief for our first wedding reflects the spirit of spring, filled with vibrant colours and whimsical foliages.

The brief was our first wedding was to introduce lots of Spring colours to the flowers. Flowers in season for April to be included in this Sussex Wedding Flowers will be; Foxgloves (a bi-annual & fantastic self seeder), Nigella (a annual and so easy to grow just buy yourself a packet of seeds and sow direct once the last frosts have passed), Ranunculus (tricky to grow but super papery and fluffy we will be sourcing these from a Lincolnshire supplier), Viburnum (a fantastic perennial bush which is a prolific grower and is the perfect filler), Spray Narcissus (they smell wonderful and give a true nod to Spring), Anemones (these are just the perfect Spring flowers to include for a wedding, whimsical and delicate) & lots of foliages (which we will gather and forage with permission!!)

The bride has also requested our collection of vintage candlesticks to be dotted down the tables, discreetly nestled among seasonal foliages, to lend a fresh, Spring-inspired, whimsical touch to the long tables. Additionally, we will be filling our large pale terracotta urns and plinths with an array of Spring flowers, including Foxgloves, to adorn the entrance to the stunning ceremony room at Farbridge Barns. We are eagerly anticipating the wedding preparations and will be providing a glimpse behind the scenes into the processes leading up to the delivery and styling of the flowers on the big day for Sussex Weddings.
