FEBRUARY UPDATE

So what has been happening?

Lots of exciting new adventures for this year, I feel like I am ready for some new challenges. Ottilie started school in September and although it is still very hard running a business with a five year old I feel there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Some days are so hard but then others are becoming a lot more joyful!

Our latest initiative for 2024 is centered around gardening. Five years ago, we acquired Myrtle Cottage, an enchanting old cottage in Pulborough, complete with a stunning cottage garden. Despite my lack of experience with larger gardens, I managed to persuade Phil that we could maintain it, and we have done so admirably. During the lockdown, we constructed raised beds to expand our annuals, enhancing the variety of flowers throughout the year. Through collaboration with local growers and the addition of cutting gardens, we now exclusively use British flowers. Our garden boasts beds of perennials and four dedicated cutting patches at the garden's lower end, brimming with vibrant annuals each season.

I have recently begun my sowing and am pleased to report that my Sweet Peas, Cosmos, Aster, Dill, Ammi, Scabiosa, and Liminium are starting to sprout up in the sun room, as the greenhouse is currently too cold for them. In light of this, we are excited to announce that we are now offering a gardening service. Whether you require a general garden tidy or assistance in creating a Cutting Garden or want advice on what to grow. We are currently working with a delightful client from Sussex, residing in Pulborough, who asked us to help hwer with her cutting beds to provide flowers for her cafe. The preparations for these beds are underway, and we anticipate beginning the planting process by the end of March or early April. Rest assured, we will keep you informed of our progress through our blog.

Our second exciting undertaking for this year came about after receiving a request from Sullington Barns. We are delighted to announce that we will be offering a new service - the opportunity to purchase cut flowers every month at the barns. This will provide you with the chance to hand-pick your favourite blooms, explore our seasonal plants, and peruse our collection of vintage garden items. The courtyard at the barns is truly enchanting, making it the perfect backdrop for this monthly event. You can find us there on a Thursday each month, with the first session scheduled for Thursday, 28th March from 10 am to 2 pm. Make sure to mark your calendars for this delightful experience "at Sullington The Old Workshop. Simply follow the signs for Sullington and continue driving up the lane until you reach the church, where the barns await you.

"We are excited to share that we have also carefully curated a delightful workshop scheduled for the 23rd of April at Sullington. Join us for 'A Flower Making Morning' where you can immerse yourself in the creative process of crafting a beautiful Seasonal Wreath and a charming Seasonal Arrangement. Laura from Wild Willow will be on hand to guide you through a number of ideas for adorning your wreath throughout the changing seasons. Additionally, we will discuss the various natural elements that can be gathered from your garden or foraged in the nearby hedgerows to enhance your creations. Secure your spot for this enchanting experience by booking online through our website."
